1, 2, 3, 4 - Antique Chest of Drawers!

I have been taking a bit of a break from keeping up with the blog posts.  I think if I did not have a full time job, I would enjoy writing this little blog a whole lot more!  I don’t plan on going anywhere though as I’ve discovered it’s a great way to chronicle life, family, and adventures, my favorite three things in the whole world!  So, my personal adventure continues….
 
Over the past month of so, I took a break to open up a small space at an antique mall in Columbus, OH.  After attending a live auction at the end of August, I have been full steam ahead.!  I think I knew this all along, but I am now 100% sure that I love all things vintage and/or antique!  Well, most things. 

Take this chest of drawers for instance.  When I picked it up, it had a huge water stain on the top and one of the drawers kept sticking. 

I looked at it and looked at it and finally thought, I like the bones of this piece. I want to make it beautiful again!

It sat in my garage for a few weeks…I thought about it each each time I passed by. I wanted to pick the perfect color and I don’t start painting until I have a plan.

I chose gray, with homemade chalk paint! I really, really want to try Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, but that paint is so darn expensive! I also wanted to try a technique I had been reading on  some of the blogs I follow where they number each drawer – so I gave it a shot!

I’m LOVING the way it turned out! What do you think?

I think it is healthy and 100% ok to take breaks from blogging. I just came of off about a 2 month one. Life has just been that full in the real world. I love your dresser you did a great job on it. Congrats on opening up a little vintage shop.

Upcycled Domino Tile Pendant Necklace

Chalkboard Painted Vase

I had a can of chalkboard paint lying around and I decided to make a little chalkboard paint vase.  I picked up this little gem from the thrift store for $1.99.  It’s pale green in color.  I like the dark black chalkboard paint against the light color of the vase. Who is Minnie? Minnie is my cute little grand-pup (on the right side of the doggie pic below). Who is Karl? He is the big golden retriever who lives behind us.  They bark at each other all the time – it’s so darn cute! I couldn’t get a good picture of Minnie and Karl together, so Lola had to do. Lola is the puppy my daughter fostered for 3 weeks – isn’t she super adorable? Seriously, super adorable!  Lola was about 6 weeks old in this picture and Minnie is 3. Minnie thought she was getting a sister....but Lola adopted out quickly.  Imagine that! Linking up with: Someday Crafts

25 Things you might not think to bring Cruise Packing List

  Tendering away from the Carnival Spirit Since I just came off my third cruise, I thought I would put together a little cruise packing list.  I was searching on the internet and I came across so many sites that tell you to pack things like bra and underwear – well duh, I don’t need help remembering to pack things like that!   So, this is not your normal cruise packing list, this list contains stuff you might not think to bring.  Please feel free to add anything else you can think of to the comments section of the post.  1.      Walkie Talkies – since you won’t be using your cell phone on the cruise, these would have been invaluable to bring.  Notice I said ‘would have been.’ We were cruising with some friends and there were times that we wanted to get in touch with them, but we had to rely on pure luck to just “run into them . ”    2.      Power Strip – there was only one outlet...
